Well, the time is coming near. After a meeting with our pastor we are right on track with where we need to be with the church plant. There are a few things that we need to begin to hammer out and start placing some things on paper. A few of those things are writing out or core values, vision, and mission statement. Many of these things we have in our heads, but we need to start getting them on paper to relate to others.
The next thing that is on our plate is the Foursquare Church Planters Intensive. This is a week long intensive that will help us develop the vision, mission, and values even further, as well as helping us dream big as to what God is placing in our hearts. I will keep you all updated as we go along.
Thanks
Also please let us know that you are praying for us. We really need all the prayer we can get right now.
I was privileged to do something over the weekend that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I was able to take my 5 year old daughter to a “Father/Daughter” dance. I have been praying for any opportunity to minister to my daughter in this way for some time now. My wife and I have been doing a reward system in our home that allows our children to choose from several rewards if they do some chores and other things. One of the rewards they can choose are to have a date out with mom or dad. Our children have chosen on many occasions to have a date out with Amber or myself. This really speaks about what they really value in life. Thy value quality time with us.
Now, the real reason for the post was to speak to all of the dads out there. One of my passions is to see fathers and husbands step up to the plate and be the godly men that God has called us to be. I had a great opportunity to do just that on Friday with the Father/Daughter dance. I have not been to a dance in several years, but it was great to be the first person that took my daughter to one. I think that as a father I am responsible to show my daughter what a real date is like. I have a responsibility to show her how a godly man is suppose to act on a date. If I don’t do it now somebody will.
The dance was awesome. I was able to watch her interact with her friends and have a good time on the dance floor, and I also was able to dance with her. This was just an all around great time. I was truly blessed to be part of this.
A final note to all fathers. Please take some time this week to look for opportunities to step up to the plate with your children. I am not an expert at this by any means, and I know that I miss several opportunities daily to do this, but I am praying that God will open my eyes and keep my spirit tuned to see these when they arise.
I know I am a sap, but here is a great song that is for all of the dads out there.
I know that this has nothing to do with church planting, but I am a die hard Miami Dolphin fan. After our dismal year and the fact that we could possibly give up our crown as the only undefeated team I was pretty bummed. I have been rooting for any team that played the Patriots all year long. Now don’t get me wrong, I think that the Patriots are an incredible team, with incredible talent. As I was watching the game last night I kept picturing the crew of the ‘72 Dolphins sitting in a suite somewhere all with their blood pressure off the charts. They all had the champagne bottles on chill with hopes of popping them one more time. As the last few minutes of the game began to unfold and the touchdown pass from Eli Manning came, you could sense a sigh of relief for the Dolphin fans. And as the last :01 ticked off the clock, you could almost hear the cork popping off of the bottles.
It might be the only thing that we have this year to celebrate, so live it up!
